Amanda Stead, an associate professor in 91精选鈥檚 School of Communication Sciences, 
and Disorders will be recognized by a national speech, language and hearing organization for her 鈥渟pecial contributions in higher education.鈥
The American Speech Language Hearing Association confers the honor to people deemed to have distinguished themselves as teachers, mentoring or innovators.
Stead, who received a doctorate from Louisiana State University, focuses on the relationship between language, assessment and dementia. In addition to teaching a course in progressive illness and dementia, she teaches 91精选 courses in communication and aging, counseling and aphasia.
In 2019, she was awarded the 91精选 President's Award for Excellence Graduate Teaching. She is , many related to speech, hearing and aging.
